I grew up in Brighton and have always been inspired by the ever-changing mood of the skies above land and sea.
After graduating from Jesus College, Cambridge with an MA in Classics, I spent time in New York and California, where I was influenced by Abstract Expressionists such as Diebenkorn and Mark Rothko.
I draw inspiration from the romance of my classical studies; the lost cities and lost horizons from times past hold an infinite fascination for me.
Looking out at a view which has little changed for thousands of years but might somehow retain a lingering mood or memory of what came before pervades my paintings with a timelessness, both in the aesthetic and emotional response.
