My painting style is to work and rework the canvas always using oil paints and sometimes metallic oils or enamels, attempting to capture the changing light and colours of the landscape, building a rich layering of colour that shimmers and changes like the natural light and colours which originally inspired the work. One of my most unashamedly romantic sunsets! I painted this for my friend Jessica Zoob's 'Painting for Joy' Competition. The idea being we come together as a community of artists to celebrate the joy of painting. Even more important in the time of Lockdown and isolation. In this painting, I imagine the rapture and yet calm at the end of a perfect day with the one you love. I told you I'm a romantic!
